Livestock Grants Applications Due December 1st
Kentucky FFA is pleased to offer the Livestock Grant Program to students who wish to establish or expand their livestock based Supervised Agricultural Experience Program. Funds for the Livestock Grant Program come from the State Fair Sale of Champions.
Applications for the grants are due December 1. Applications should be mailed to: Matt Chaliff, Kentucky FFA, 500 Mero Street- Room 2023, Frankfort, KY 40601.
The program is open to freshman and sophomore members. Each chapter is eligible to submit one application for judging. Preference will be given to students with financial need. Students are expected to exhibit their animal at a local, district, or state livestock show.
Two grants will be given to each region that applies. The balance will be issued at large after all regional winners have been selected.
Selection will be made and recipients notified by January 31st.
Students may apply the grant money toward the purchase of any market or breeding animals or feed expense that is part of their occupational experience program. Due to the origin of these funds, the grant money must be used to purchase either, beef, swine, sheep, or goats.
The amount available for 2014-2015 is:
Breeding Gilt $150 Market Hog $150
Breeding Ewe $150 Market Lamb $150
Breeding Heifer $300 Market Steer $250
Market Goat $150
Upon proof of purchase and notification to the Executive Secretary, the grant winner will receive a check in the amount determined by the grant application. All applications must be executed by June 1 of the school year received.
