Mitcham Receives National Award

Indianapolis- Josh Mitcham of Hardinsburg, Kentucky was named the Outstanding Young Member of the National Association of Supervisors of Agricultural Education at the organization’s annual convention. Mitcham is and Agricultural Education Consultant and Director of the Kentucky FFA Leadership Training Center. The award honors state agricultural education leaders who have been in their positions for three to five years.
Mitcham was chosen for this award by a panel of state agricultural education leaders from across the nation. Some of his accomplishments cited by the committee included:
- Providing technical support to teachers of agriculture related to classroom instruction, FFA, and work based learning.
- Providing professional learning opportunities for teachers including the New Teacher Workshop series and Kentucky Master Agriculture Teacher program.
- Development of a virtual FFA Camp experience during the Covid-19 pandemic.
- Work with stakeholder groups to revise the FFA Camp schedule and program to reflect the needs to FFA members and chapters following the Covid-19 pandemic.
- Work with governmental, educational, and agricultural groups to provide support for the Leadership Training Center.
- Oversight of multiple construction projects and capital improvements to the physical facilities of the Leadership Training Center.
Mitcham has served in this current position since 2019. He previously taught agricultural education at Nelson County High School and Meade County High School. He lives in Breckinridge County with his wife Stella and children Will, Josie, and Jonah.
