Campers are getting a better night's rest this summer, thanks to a generous gift from Tempur-Sealy. The company has donated 450 twin XL mattresses to the Kentucky FFA Leadership Training Center, allowing the center to completely replace all of the old mattresses.
The mattress brands donated included Sealy, Tempur-Pedic and Stearns and Foster, and range in value from $1,500 to $2,500 each. That makes Tempur-Sealy's gift the largest in-kind donation in Kentucky FFA Foundation history.
“Tempur Sealy is proud to partner with the Kentucky FFA Foundation. Our mattress donation program helps deliver on our company purpose of improving the sleep of more people, every night, all around the world,” said Erin Grant, public relations for Tempur Sealy. “We are grateful for the opportunity to support such an important project and know that it will have a lasting impact in our community for years to come."
The mattresses at the Kentucky FFA Leadership Training Center had last been replaced in 1994, so the gift is a huge upgrade!
In total, about 2,100 students use the Leadership Training Center each summer. This includes five weeks of FFA Camp for high school students and a Middle School Camp experience, which together bring about 1,700 FFA members. Also, about 400 additional guests will use the Leadership Training Center each summer for their conferences and meetings.
“Of all the factors that make a summer camp successful, mattresses might not be the first one that comes to mind; but the impact on the energy level at camp by a good night’s sleep is very important," said Josh Mitcham, the camp director of the Kentucky FFA Leadership Training Center. "This donation has made a huge impact on our camp experience and the overall morale and attitude of our campers. We are so fortunate to have received this gift from Tempur Sealy!”
