Livestock Validation Guidelines for 2021
Market Cattle exhibitors may now order and purchase tags for the 2021 show season. Below is the link to order tags. Additionally, a “how to” video is linked that explains the entire process from beginning to end on validating a market steer or heifer. I have listed below the deadlines to tag and validate market cattle. Market cattle must be tagged and DNA submitted by the March 26th deadline. In the event that a market steer or market heifer is not tagged and validated by the deadline of March 26, 2021, exhibitors will not be eligible to show at the 2021 Kentucky State Fair. Ownership, possession and care rules are attached as well as the validation guidelines.
Market Cattle Validation Dates:
-
- Order form opens (tags will be ordered online at KY State Fair website) – January 26th
- Deadline to order tags – February 26th
- DNA Envelopes must be in hand (Mallory Trenkamp, KY State Fair) – March 26th No exceptions.
- 4-H Exhibitors are expected to have their 6 hours of educational training completed by March 26th. Mallory Trenkamp (State Fair) will then send a sheet with all 4-H exhibitors within your county to verify that those exhibitors completed their educational requirements on time. A more details explanation of this process is in the validation guidelines PDF.
- All FFA market animal exhibitors must be a bona fide FFA member in good standing within their local FFA Chapter prior to the time of validation. Mallory Trenkamp (State Fair) will then send a sheet with all 4-H exhibitors within your chapter to verify that those exhibitors are in good standing.
