Help Wanted! Kentucky FFA Seeking Agriculture Education Program Development Specialist

The Kentucky FFA Foundation is seeking to hire a Agriculture Education Program Development Specialist. This position will coach teachers to develop their programs, identify & grow community partnerships and more. The application window is open until Friday, April 19th. Agriculture Education Program Development Specialist Job Overview

Qualifications

  1. Must possess a degree in agricultural education.

  2. Must have five years of experience teaching agricultural education.

Expectations

Program Development Specialists (PDS) will work 100 days per year supporting the work of local teachers of agriculture. This support may include, but is not limited to:

  • Helping local teacher(s) identify key partners for chapter development, help establish and grow community partnerships

  • Assisting teachers with the development of local Alumni & Supporters group

  • Coaching teachers on how to effectively implement an Agricultural Education pro-

    gram including:

o Utilization of the agricultural mechanics lab, greenhouse, and other facilitieso Development and alignment of agricultural education curriculum
o Integration of leadership development through FFA
o Integration of work based learning opportunities

PDS will work with local teachers to schedule visits as follows:• 1st year teachers- 1 visit

• 2nd year teachers- 1 visit
• Other visits as requested by local teachers/administrators

Provide support at regional/state events such as State FFA Convention, Kentucky State Fair, State/Regional Career Development Events.

Coordinate professional development and teacher recruitment efforts for Kentucky Agricul- tural Education in conjunction with State Staff.

Requirements

- Effective use of email and other communication technologies. - Willingness to travel

PDS will travel up to 100 days per year

Some overnight travel will be expected.

  • Mileage will be reimbursed at a rate to be determined at the beginning of the fiscal

    year (approximately $.48 per mile.)

  • Other travel costs will be reimbursed with prior approval.

• Some meetings and events will require work outside the normal hours of 8:00-5:00. - Ability to work from home.

• No office space will be provided.

PDS will receive reimbursement for internet and cell phone. - Attention to detail.

• PDS will submit weekly reports of work accomplished as well as monthly time sheets and monthly expense vouchers.

• An excellent advocate for agricultural education and Kentucky FFA.
• A willingness to coach teachers and a desire to see our local programs and students

succeed across Kentucky.

Salary

PDS will be hired as contract labor by the Kentucky FFA Foundation and will receive a 1099 form.

The rate of pay is $200 per day.

Pay would be bi-weekly based on days worked and expenses would reimbursed monthly. No benefits will be provided. PDS will be expected to carry liability insurance. The coverage provided by KAAE membership would be acceptable.

Oversight and Supervision

PDS will be contract employees of the Kentucky FFA Foundation. PDS would report weekly to the Foundation’s Human Resources committee.

The work of PDS will be coordinated by the Foundation Executive Director and the Frankfort based Agricultural Education Consultants.

PDS will be hired by the Foundation’s Human Resources Committee.
