Ben Prevette is beginning his 12th year as an agriculture educator at Hopkins County Central High School. During his time there, he has been a part of running a successful Greenhouse program, earned grants to help purchase a plasma table and new welders, started a sweet corn and melon plot, provided garden beds for each elementary school, and offered welding certifications through the American Welding Society. He has also had the privilege to coach several regional winning teams such as Parliamentary Procedures, Ag Sales, Welding, Ag Mechanics, Land Judging and Homesite, as well as several speeches and proficiencies. His Ag Sales team won state in 2025 and Land Judging and Homesite in 2024. During this time he has had 6 teams qualify for the National Land Judging contest and homesite contest and one Ag Sales team. Professionally he is currently serving as the Vice Chair for the Kentucky Association for Agriculture Educators, and will serve as the President for the 2026-2027 school year.

Ben serves in a multiple teacher department, where he works with his wife, Gabrielle Prevette and Matthew McIntosh. Together, they offer 4 career pathways for students to choose from as they explore their interest in agriculture. Together, they strive to give students equal opportunities in FFA, developing an active SAE, and unique experiences in hands-on classroom instruction. Recently, they are most excited about their new beef cattle initiative where students are caring for beef cattle owned by the Ag department. Some of these cows will be used for
breeding to produce calves while others will be used for processing meat for the local school cafeterias.

Ben is thankful for the opportunity he has to teach agriculture in Hopkins County. He is thankful for supportive administration at the school and district levels, along with a supportive community that values agriculture education. He and Gabrielle have made Hopkins County their home, raising their 2 children on a small farm in the county.
