Where Will You Go?
I have never been an avid reader, but I have always been intrigued by children books. One of my favorite books, given to me by my mom when I graduated high school, was written by Dr. Seuss. You may have heard of the, title, “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!”
This book is based upon a boy named “You”, who embarks on a journey to find his place in this life. My favorite quote from Dr. Suess’s has to be, “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...”
This quote is perfect for any of us trying to figure out aspects of our lives. We are fortunate to live in a blessed country where we have the opportunity to choose the life we want to live. We have the choice of going to college to pursue any degree, or to go straight into the workforce and build out lives in the industry of our choosing. No one tells us what we have to do or what we have to achieve, but as FFA members we have been taught to always strive for the best and to never settle for anything less than what we know we can achieve.
Everyone has dreams, goals and aspirations for their lives. However, none of these will be followed through, if we don’t steer ourselves in the best direction of life. Maybe for you, it’s choosing to do the right thing when someone tries to pressure you into a situation you’re uncomfortable with. No matter the desire, no goal can be achieved without the use of our ‘brains in our head’ for good, because at some point we will be on our ‘own’ and we will realize have to make our own decisions in life, effecting both ourselves and those around us. Throughout life we are taught right from wrong, but it is imperative that we use what we ‘know’ to get us to the ‘places we are going’.
Kentucky FFA, as we travel throughout our lives we need to make sure we know where we are going so that we can help stay on the pathway of where we want to be. We have to make sure we keep our head on straight and keep our goals in mind. That we way can achieve! Kentucky FFA, “You're off to Great Places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, So... get on your way!”
So when will we get on our way to success? What About Now?
