Recently, I have been thinking upon a question. A question, which has occasionally engrossed the minds of the most brilliant scientists ever born. Hundreds of years have passed and this question has still never been answered. What is this question? Its simple, “ What is THE meaning of life?” Is it to live? But what is the real definition of living? Is it going through the motions of our daily routine? But what if there is no such thing as a single meaning? Have you ever considered your purpose, your reason to survive? How can you truly live?

If you were to ask 10 random people the purpose of life, you would receive 10 different answers. Each of us is unique, and contains diverse skills, talents, and abilities. We must utilize these talents so that we have a purpose. For some our purpose is to inspire others with our words. For another it may be to add value to the life of every person that they come in contact with by simply smiling. Someday there will be someone who’s born to cure cancer. Have you ever considered that the next President of the United States could be sitting in the seat next to you? We must focus on our talents and realize the reason we are given them is so that we may accomplish part of our true meaning. To let them go unused would be a waste.

However, realizing our purpose is only half of our meaning. We must also truly decide to live. Going through daily routines is not living. You must do what others say is impossible. Put yourself out there, and learn to hope for the best. You must get up and do what you were born to do. Don’t waste your time. Climb to the top of Mt. Everest, share your story with others, and sing a song. There is a quote that I have heard many times. You miss 100% of the shots you do not take. Are you willing to sit on the sidelines and miss every shot? Or do want to live and have a 50% chance it will go in. How can you expect the world to change if you don’t make it? Step up and live to your fullest!  You have every reason to! Don’t give up; always keep trying! It does not matter how many times you might fail, it only matters how fast and how may times you get back up!

Kentucky FFA you have each been given an opportunity to live to the fullest and use the purpose you are alive! Your meaning for life is in your hands! When should you take hold of these opportunities offered to you?
