State Officer Application

Each year at the State FFA Convention, 11 individuals are chosen to lead the Kentucky Association as State FFA Officers.  These individuals travel thousands of miles giving speeches, leading workshops, promoting agricultural education, and advocating for the agriculture industry.

In order to run for State Office, a student must be at least a senior in high school and have earned or applied for his/her State FFA Degree.  Each chapter can send one candidate to the regional election (usually held in late March or early April).  Each region selects two candidates to advance to the State FFA Convention.

The candidates who advance to the State FFA Convention go through an intensive interview process on Sunday evening and Monday of the State Convention (June 10-11, 2012).  Officer Candidates also serve as ushers for Convention sessions throughout the week.  The election and installation of State Officers takes place on the final day of State Convention (June 14, 2012.)

Students interested in running for State Office should understand that they will be expected to devote a large portion of their summer to State Officer Training and will have responsibilities nearly every week throughout the school year.  Candidates and their families should carefully review the expectations of State FFA Officers and discuss any questions with their local FFA Advisor or email matt.chaliff@education.ky.gov
